Linzer Torte Austrian Dessert
It is not too far from the Rhineland to Austria and the city of Linz on the Danube....and from there we bring you the famous Linzer Torte. Is it known to be the oldest kind of cake in the world and its roots go back to 1696! My grandmother used to cream the butter, almonds, and fragrant spices to make the pastry, filling it then with her own red currant jelly. Because of the fine ingredients and the almonds, the torte stays moist....and it is hard to describe how delicious it is - you need to try it to believe it.
